MB10- Maria Al-Qibtiyya (ra)

Maria-01/01

Maria Al-Qibtiyya (ra)

The Prophet (saw) said: “Allah (swt) has commanded me to marry with the women of Paradise only”.

Maria (ra), Al-Qibtiyyah was born in upper Egypt of a Coptic father and Greek mother.

After the consolidation of power by the first Muslims over Mecca and Medina, The Prophet (saw), dispatched emissaries bearing the glad tidings of the revealed Word to the great kings of the Middle East.Hateb bin Balta’a was sent to one of the greatest king, Al Muqawqas of Egypt, who was a Coptic Christian.Hateb approached the king, and announced to him the message of the truth.

Al-Muqawqas showers gifts upon the Prophet (saw)

Al Muqawqas finally concluded the discussion respectfully by saying
I have found that this Muhammad has the quality of being a genuine Prophet, which will allow him to produce the hidden and to proclaim in confidence.
Al Muqawqas told Hateb (ra), to return to his land and he granted many gifts to convey his respect to Muhammad (saw).

Among those gifts were young Coptic women slaves, Maria and her sister Serene
Maria Al-Qibtiyyah (ra), and her sister embrace Islam .
Maria (ra), was born in upper Egypt of a Coptic father and Greek mother and moved to the court of the Muqawqis when she was still very young .

The two sisters embraced Islam, as Hateb (ra), had convinced them of the truth of the message revealed to the last of the Prophets .Hence, they were believers and free women before they entered Al-Madinah .
Note: In Islam a slave is considered free if she/he accepts Islam, so a believer is free and cannot be enslaved. Contrary to the opinion that the Prophet (saw) had Maria (ra), as a slave and not as a spouse

Maria’s (ra), Al-Qibtiyyah marriage to the Prophet (saw)

After a long journey the caravan with Maria (ra) and her sister arrived in Al-Madina
Maria was fair and beautiful, and her faith in God shone from her (ra), face.
The Prophet (saw), recognized these traits and asked her to marry him, this was at the time when the Prophet (saw), returned from the treaty with Quraish which was contracted at Al-Hudaibiyyah.

Her sister was married to the poet Hassan bin Thaber.
Maria (ra), welcomed her new life with enthusiasm. She had become the Prophet’s (saw), spouse and the Mother of the Believers, which she understood was a great gift bestowed on her and her people from Allah (swt)
Maria (ra), dedicated herself totally to the well-being of her husband and for her Muhammad (saw), was friend, master ,family and country.

Maria (ra), identifies with Hajar (ra)

The new wife Maria (ra), was taught many things by the Prophet (saw), among which was the story of Hajar (ra), the spouse of Ibrahim (as)
Hajar (ra), had come to the Hijaz many centuries before Maria (ra), but the destinies of the two women had become intermingled.
Maria (ra), appreciated the similarities between her story and that of her predecessor, except the fact that Hajar (ra), had been granted a son and Maria (ra), had not
Maria (ra), is granted her wish for a son by Allah (swt)
Maria (ra), desired greatly to bear the Prophet (saw), a son, and her wish was granted.
She (ra), give birth to a healthy son in 9 AH, the same year that his (saw), daughter Zainab (ra), passed away, and the Prophet (saw), named his new son Ibrahim, after Prophet Ibrahim (as)
The ancestor of both the Jews and the Christians

Maria (ra), looses Ibrahim and remains patient

Little Ibrahim’s fate was short, when she was only eighteen months old, Ibrahim became seriously ill and died.
Anas (ra), said: “I saw Ibrahim dying in the Prophet’s (saw), arms. The Prophet’s (saw), eyes filled with tears and he said, our eyes shed tears, our hearts grieve, we will only say what pleases Allah (swt).”

“By Allah, Ibrahim, we are sad for your departure.”

The mourning mother Maria (ra), followed the example of her husband and only repeated his (saw), words, “We belong to God and to Him we shall return.”
Maria (ra), remained patient and content with the fate that Allah (swt), had willed for her.

An eclipse occurs on the day of Ibrahim’s burial.

As Ibrahim body was being buried, the sun was eclipsed and it grew dark and gloomy. Some people thought this was connected with Ibrahim’s death, but the Prophet (saw), soon clarified this.

He (saw), said “The sun and the moon are two of Allah’s signs, they are not eclipsed because of anyone’s birth or death. When you see these signs , make haste to remember Allah (swt), in prayer.”

Although the kafirun used to mock the Prophet Muhammad (saw), because he had no sons, and say that he was ‘cut off’, (they meant his progeny was cut off) Allah (swt), made it clear in the following surahs that the station of the Prophet Muhammad (saw), was far above that of any other man;
Qur’anic Evidence
Al-Kauthar 108:1-3

In the name of Allah, The Merciful, the Compassionate: Surely We Have given you Al-Kauthar, so pray to your Lord and offer sacrifice. Surely he who mocks you is the one cut off. (Qur’an 108: 1-3)

Al-Ahzab 33:40

Muhammad is not the father of any man among you, but he is the messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets, and Allah has knowledge of all things. (Qur’an 33:40)

In Honor of Maria (ra), The Mother of the Believers

In another hadith, Al Hassan bin Ali (ra), spoke to Mu’awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (ra), in favor of the people of Hifn, the village of Maria (ra). Which was then exempted from tax on its crops?
It is also written that when Ebada bin Ali Samit (ra), had visited Egypt after its conquest by the Muslims, he looked for Maria’s (ra), village and house where he (ra), built a mosque to honor the memory of Maria (ra), the Mother of the Believers, a symbol of love and tolerance between peoples.

Maria (ra), passes away five years after the Prophet (saw).

Maria was honored and respected by the Prophet (saw), and his family and Companions. She (ra), spent three years of her life with the Prophet (saw),until his death, and died five years later in 16 AH, (may Allah be pleased with her, (ra)

For the last five years of her life , Maria (ra), remained a recluse and almost never went out except to visit the grave of the Prophet (saw), or her son’s grave. After her death, Umaribn Al-Khattab (ra), led the prayer over Maria (ra), and she was buried in Jannatul Baqi.
Allah gives good news to them in
Al-Fajr 89:28-30

“O the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! Come back to your Lord-well pleased and well pleasing. Enter you then among My (honored) servants, and enter you my Paradise.’

MB08- Safiyyah Bint Huyayee (ra)

Safiyyah-02/02

The Prophet (saw), marries Safiyyah Bint Huyayee

The father of Safiyyah (ra), Huyayee bin Akhthab was killed in the battle of Bani Quraidhah. Her husband Kananah bin Rabiah bin Haqeeq was captured and killed for the crime of misgovernment. And Safiyyah (ra), was made a prisoner of war.

Dahyah Kalbi (ra), a mujahid chose as his share of booty a slave girl i.e. Safiyyah.
However one of the Companion suggested that it would be better if the Prophet (saw) kept Safiyyah (ra), the daughter of a leader and chieftain, for himself and gave some other slave girl to Dahyan Kalbi.

The Prophet (saw) then freed Safiyyah and married her
Her dowry was her liberty from slavery. Ibn Al Qayyim.
On the return journey to Al-Madinah, the Prophet (saw), was camped in the outskirts when a sahaabiyat, Umm Salim Ansariah, dressed up Safiyyah (ra), in her bridal finery for the Prophet (saw)

Iman Thahabi Describes the Qualities and Character of Safiyyah (ra)

He said that she (ra), was noble both by birth as well as by nature: she was god-fearing intelligent, patient , tolerant and dignified .

When the Prophet (saw), saw a wound above her eye and asked her about it,she explained, she had dreamt that the moon had fallen into her lap.
When she told her husband about her dream, he slapped her in anger and told her that it meant she would be married with the king of Yathrib, i.e. Madinah .

When she married the Prophet (saw) she was 17 years old
Safiyyah’s Introduction to the Prophet (saw) Household
Safiyyah (ra), traveled in the company of the Prophet (saw), from Khaiber to Al-Madinah
She (ra), said she never came across a person who was more refined and well mannered than him, (saw).

Safiyyah also stated that he, (saw) was always pleasant and behaved like a perfect gentleman
When the people of Al-Madinah heard of his approach, they came out to greet him and his victorious army.

His (saw), wives were also longing to meet him after this great victory
When they heard, he had married the young beautiful daughter of the Jewish leader;

Aishah (ra), was disturbed by her feminine jealousy

He (ra), and his new bride went directly to Harithah bin Noman Ansari’s home stayed there for a while.

The ladies of Al-Madinah came there to meet Safiyyah (ra); and all of them were full of praise for her

Aishah’s (ra), Jealously Toward Safiyyah (ra).

When the Prophet (saw), asked Aishah (ra), for her opinion of Safiyyah (ra),. Aishah (ra), still vexed by her feminine jealousy, replied dryly that she had seen the Jewess .
The Prophet (saw), gently rebuked her, saying to her that “Safiyyah (ra), should no longer be referred to as Jewess, as she had accepted Islam”. Safiyyah, (ra), moved into her own home
Once Safiyyah, (ra), moved into her own place she displayed her noble upbringing by adopting a pleasant and friendly attitude with the other Mothers of the Believers.
She brought expensive gold jewelry with her from Khaiber and she presented this to the other wives.

She loved the Prophet’s (saw), daughter Fatimah (ra), and gave her gold earrings as a gift.
She tried her best to win a place in the hearts of Aishah and Hafshah (ra) because the Prophet (saw), held them in high esteem and loved them dearly.

An incident with Hafsah, (ra)

Safiyyah (ra), once mentioned to the Prophet (saw), that Hafsah (ra), taunted her, calling her the daughter of a Jew.The Prophet (saw) told her that she should have told Hafsah (ra), “She could not better than her; because her husband was Muhammad (saw), her father was Haroon as, and her uncle was Musa (as)”

An incident with Aishah, (ra)

On another occasion Aishah (ra), spoke of Safiyyah (ra), in disparaging manner in front of the Prophet (saw) .Prophet (saw), told Aishah (ra), that if her words were thrown into the ocean, they would make the whole ocean bitter .

Sahih Al-Bukhari Narrates An Incident about Safiyyah (ra).

On one occasion the Prophet (saw), was walking with Safiyyah (ra),
Two of the Ansar saw him walking closely with her, and greeted him
He asked them to stop, and explained to them that she was his wife, they praised Allah (swt), and said he need not explain.

He (saw), answered that Satan could pollute their minds, as he runs through the body like blood and he (saw), did not want to sow suspicions in their hearts .

The effect of Al-Qur’an in Safiyyah’s (ra), heart.
Safiyyah (ra), gave a lot of time to the reading of the Noble Qur’an and its effect on her heart was so intense, that she would weep because of the fear of Allah (swt).
She was extremely knowledgeable and spent most of her time memorizing, reciting, and learning the Qur’an

She was also very tolerant and forgiving, a good example is when she forgave her slave girl for carrying tales to Caliph Omar Farooq (ra),
Ayat 3:134

“3:134 who spend [in His way] in time of plenty and in time of hardship, and hold in check their anger, and pardon their fellow-men because God loves the doers of good. (Al Imran 134)
The Eyes Which Shed These Tears Will Go to Paradise As They are the Proof of Safiyyah (ra), Intense Love for Allah (swt)

And so they fall down upon their faces, weeping, and [their consciousness of God’s grace] increases their humility.
(Isra 109)

“O the one in complete rest and satisfaction! Comeback to your Lord-well pleased (yourself) and well pleasing (unto Him)! Enter you among them My (honored) servants, and enter you My Paradise” (89:27-30)

MB08- Safiyyah Bint Huyayee (ra)

Safiyyah-01/02

Safiyyah Bint Huyayee (ra)

Saffiyah bint Huyayee (ra), Her Lineage, her freedom and her marriages
Safiyyah was the favorite daughter of Huyayee bin Akhtab the chieftain of the tribe of Banu Nadheer, a jewish tribe.

Her mother was Barah bint Shamwal who was the sister of Rafa’ah bin Shamwal. She was married to Salam bin Mashkam first, but they separated soon on the grounds of incompatibility
Her (ra), second husband was Kananah bin Rabi’ bin Haqeeq who was killed in the Battle of Khaibar

Her (ra), father and her paternal uncle Abu Yasir, loved Safiyyah (ra), deeply and used to lived in Al-Madinah

When the Prophet (saw) migrated to Madinah both Safiyyah’s father and uncle went to see him (ra), they recognized him and promised to be his enemy forever.

The Battle of Khaibar

When the Quraish prevented the Muslims from entering Makkah, i.e. after the treaty of Hudaibiyah, the news spread like wild fire through the whole of Arabian Peninsula that the Muslims had bowed and accepted an unfair treaty .

When the Jews in Khaibar heard this news, they decided to strike the Muslims in Madinah
When the Prophet heard the Jews were preparing for war, he (saw), gathered the fourteen hundred people who couldn’t perform Umrah even though they had set out for their journey halfway.

The Prophet (saw), took them as his army and set out to fight this battle of Khaibar in the early days of Muharram

The Prophets prayer

When he (saw), first sighted Khaibar he ordered his army to stop right there, and lifted his hands in supplication to Allah (swt). Whenever he traveled, it was his usual practice to recite this following prayer as soon as his eyes first fell on a city.

“O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and all that they envelop, Lord of the seven earths and all that they carry, Lord of the devils and all whom they misguide, Lord of the winds and all whom they whisk away, I ask you for the goodness of this village, the goodness of its inhabitants and for all the goodness found within it and I take refuge with You from the evil of this village, the evil of its inhabitants and from all the evil found within it”

The typical strategy of Prophet (saw), was that whenever he led his men to engage in battle, he planned to reach there by nightfall. But he was so principled that he would never attack the enemy at night in order to take them unawares
Soon after Fajr i.e. dawn prayers, the Prophet (saw) ordered the Mujahideen to advance and attack

The Jews of Khaibar started scattering towards their homes
When the Prophet (saw) saw them running he called out,

“Allah is Great, Khaibar is deserted, Khaibar is broken, Khaibar is destroyed and ruined!”.
By the grace of Allah (swt) the Muslims triumphed and all the ports of Khaibar were taken

This marriage influenced important chieftains and prominent leaders like Abu Sufyan to understand Islam and join the ranks of the Prophet (saw) and become remarkable Muslims.

The Prophet (saw), gives good news of paradise to both sister and brother (ra),

Once Mu’awiyah was visiting the Prophet (saw), while the Prophet (saw) and Umm Habibah (ra), were both sitting together. On seeing them together, Mu’awiyah turned around to leave them both in their privacy .When he turned to leave, the Prophet (saw), called out to him and invited him to sit with him .He (ra), then told him that he sincerely wished that they three should sit together and have the pure drink of Paradise ,These words imply that they will all three, Allah willing, be in Paradise

Allah (swt), answers Umm Habibah’s prayer against the murderer of Uthman bin Affan (ra)
When someone conveyed the message that Uthman bin Affan (ra), was martyred in his house after being besieged, she (ra), was so upset that she prayed the killer’s hands be cut off and that he should be disgraced and shamed in public.

And Allah (swt) fulfilled her prayer. A man entered the murderer’s house and attacked him with a sword; and when the murderer tried to protect himself with his right hand, it got cut off.
Then he tried to flee from him and ran into the street, holding his sheet with his teeth. But he could not manage it, the sheet fell, and he was left standing naked in front of all the people on the street disgraced and shamed.

MB07-Umm Habibah Ramlah (ra), Bint Abi Sufyan (ra)

Umm Habibah-02/03

The Prophet (saw ), proposes marriage to Umm Habibah (ra),

One night Umm Habibah dreamt someone called out to her, “Mother of the Believers”
When she woke up she felt a great sense of well-being and not just happiness but ecstasy
During the time , the Prophet (saw), had migrated to Al-Madinah and the first Islamic State had been established .

Someone while talking to him about Abyssinia mentioned that Umm Habibah the daughter of the Chief of Quraish from wealthy and noble family was living from hand to mouth, after her husband Obaidullah apostated and died.On hearing this the Prophet (saw) sent word to Najashi with the message that if Umm Habibah (ra), liked he would marry him.

Umm Habibah (ra), accepts the Prophet’s Proposal

Najashi received the Prophet’s (saw), proposal and sent his slave girl Abraha to Umm Habibah (ra), Umm Habibah (ra), was overjoyed when she heard of the proposal
She was so happy that she removed what ever silver jewelry she was wearing and gave it to Abraha as a gift ,Umm Habibah (ra), nominated her relative Khalid bin Sa’eed bin Aas for performing the ceremony .That very evening Najashi sent a message to Jafar bin Abi Talib asking him to bring all his Muslim friends to his palace
And he asked her relative Khalid bin Sa’eed bin Aas to perform the ceremony and gave four hundred dinars as Mahr to Umm Habibah on behalf of the Prophet (saw) .

Abraha the slave girl of Najashi accepts Islam

Umm Habibah (ra), was so grateful to Allah (swt), for the honor bestowed on her by making her one of the Mothers of the Believers that she sent for Abraha and once again gave her fifty Dinars and apologized for not having rewarded her earlier in a suitable manner.Abraha respectfully presented Umm Habibah (ra), with a little bag, which contained some very expensive perfume as gift from Najashi’s wives, and then Abraha herself gifted to Umm Habibah (ra), the same jewelry she had received earlier from her, apologizing for her lack of resources.
Abraha also sent a message to the Prophet (saw) informing him that she had accepted Islam in secret .And requested Umm Habibah (ra), to convey her greetings to the Prophet (saw), when she met with him saying, that this would be the greatest favor she could do for a poor woman.

Umm Habibah (ra), joins the Prophet ( saw), in Al-Madinah

When Umm Habibah (ra) reached Al-Madinah she told the Prophet (saw) , about the happenings in Abyssinia and about the goodness of Najashi and how generously the wedding had been organized .She gave him Abraha’s good news of her becoming Muslim and her ardent greetings. The Prophet (saw), was very pleased with her message and returning her greetings, he prayed that Allah (swt), should bless her with plenitude.

Abu Sufyan’s reaction to his daughters wedding

Abu Sufyan heard about his daughter’s marriage and he expressed happiness in spite of the fact that he had not yet accepted Islam .He said the Prophet (saw), was the youth who would never lose face, and always be honored.

Abu Sufyan visits his daughter Umm Habibah (ra), in Al-Madinah

When the Quraish broke the Treaty of Hudaibiyah, he Abu Sufyan came to Al-Madinah to renew the treaty. He visited his daughter; just as he was about to sit down Umm Habibah rolled up the light mattress which was spread out .He was surprised and asked her if he was worthy of the mattress, or the mattress was not worthy of him .She replied, ‘that actually it was a mattress used by a very pure and clean Prophet (saw), and no idol worshipper could sit on it, as he was unclean, hence she rolled up the mattress.’

Abu Sufyan was very embarrassed and said ‘she had forgotten the manners since moving away from him. She answered;

‘that the manners of Islam had taught her different values and cleanliness had a different meaning for her now’, of coarse Abu Sufyan was not happy with what his daughter had told him and left his daughter’s house .

She narrates;
I was thankful that Allah (swt), guided me to the path of Islam and wondered how come my father as chieftain of Quraish, and of such high standards had not yet seen the truth and accepted Islam

MB07-Umm Habibah Ramlah (ra), Bint Abi Sufyan (ra)

Umm Habibah -01/03

Umm Habibah Ramlah (ra), bint Abi Sufyan (ra)

Pointing towards Amir Mu’awiyah ( ra), and Umm Habibah (ra), Allah’s Messenger (saw), said, “By Allah, I wish by heart that she, you and I might drink the clean wine in Paradise together.”

The story of the four lost friends

Waraqah bin Naufil, Uthman bin Haweerath bin Asad, Zaid bin Amr bin Nafeel and Obaidullah bin Jahash were four friends who often used to get together and discuss how this terrible evil could be eradicated from their people.

They could not talk about it openly, so they used to have their sessions late at night when the entire world was silent and asleep.

The Quraish, lost their way to idolatry and these four friends decided they had to find the way to pure and prestine religion of Ibrahim (as), for themselves

The four friends find their separate ways

The first friend Waraqah bin Nawfal, cousin of Khadijah (ra), had given up idol worship right from barbaric times and had given up eating the flesh of animals sacrificed in the name of idols. He knew the Torah and the Injil by heart.

The second friend Uthman bin Haweerath bin Asad, traveled to Syria, and worked as a missionary to spread Christianity. He became a close friend of the Roman Emperor Caesar and was finally elevated to the papal position

The third friend, Zaid bin Amr bin Nafeel stopped worshipping idols, eating dead animals and drinking their blood and hated eating sacrificed animals. He often talked of the pure Abrahamic religion. He too died before the Prophet’s (saw), messenger ship

The fourth friend Obaidullah bin Jahash, regrettably, fell into such doubts and perplexity that he vacillated between right and wrong. He married the beautiful intelligent and educated daughter of the Quraish chieftain, Abu Sufyan Sakhr bin Harb. Her name was Ramlah bint Abu Sufyan.

Ramlah (ra), bint Abu Sufyan accepts Islam.

It was around this time in Makkah that Muhammad (saw) rejected the idols and invited people to worship the one true God and also proclaimed he was Allah’s (swt) last Prophet and Messenger

The leader of the Quraish were furious and the community was split into two factions
Some people became Muslims while the others became sworn enemies of Islam and Muslims
But the intelligent and wise daughter of Abu Sufyan, Ramlah accepted Islam and so did her (ra), husband Obaidullah bin Jahash

Obaidullah apostates from Islam and passes away

The whole family of Obaidullah was fortunate to have obeyed the call to Islam, but while in Abyssinia Obaidullah had the misfortunate to reject Islam after having accepted it.
He became an apostate and heretic and turned to Christianity
He started drinking and died on the same belief. However, his wife Ramlah (ra), remained faithful to Islam, in fact her love and support for it grew stronger. And ultimately she joined the ranks of the Mother of the Believers
Her (ra), life is a study in loyalty and steadfastness, in her love for the truth.

Ramlah (ra), bint Abu Sufyan accepts Islam

Abu Sufyan Sakhr bin Harb was a chief of the Quraish, who led them in many of their wars
Besides Ramlah (ra), he had two sons, Yazid and Mu’awiyah.
Both of them were renowned for their services to Islam.
Ramlah (ra),accepted Islam when the Muslims were facing a lot of opposition and were being cruelly persecuted
Abu Sufyan was a very powerful man, but he was helpless in the matter of his daughter
Ramlah (ra), who was a frail girl
In spite of all his efforts Abu Sufyan could not make his daughter recant

Ramlah and Obaidullah migrate to Abyssinia

The Prophet (saw) decided that the staunch supporters of Islam had taken enough torture and oppression from the Quraish, and he ordered them to leave for Abyssinia, where the ruler was known for his kindness and hospitality to refugees from tyrannical rule .Ramlah (ra), and her husband Obaidullah bin Jahash were among the second group of migrants who left for Abyssinia .There Ramlah (ra), gave birth to a girl who they named Habibah: hence Ramlah was now known as Umm Habibah (ra), So the days passed swiftly for her as she kept busy seeing to the upbringing for her little daughter; all her free time was spent in prayer and meditation

Umm Habiba’s (ra), husband Obaidullah apostates

One night Umm Habibah dreamt that her husband’s face was mutilated.
She woke up panic stricken, but was too nervous to talk about her dream to her husband.
A few days later he told her that he originally had been a Christian and then converted to Islam, but since coming to Abyssinia he gave a great deal of thought and finally came to the conclusion that Christianity offered the best system of beliefs, hence he was reverting and going back to the fold of Christianity .He advised her to do the same and become a Christian
Immediately it struck Ramlah that this was what her dream meant
The mutilation of her husbands face meant that he had lost his identity as a Muslim.
Then she told him about her dream, hoping that this would instill the fear of Allah( ) in his heart.
But he was too far gone on the downward road.

Obaidullah passes away as an apostate

Obaidullah was so lost that not only his face but his heart had been mutilated as well.
He was not bothered in fact he started drinking alcohol and was so addicted that he was drunk for most of the time .Umm Habibah (ra), was now growing desperate, worrying about the future of both her daughter and herself .She prayed to Allah (swt), to give her the strength to remain steadfast in her faith. Obaidullah died due to heavy drinking, he was in a sorry state of kufr at that time

Umm Habibah’s (ra), life as a widow in Abyssinia

Umm Habibah (ra), was relieved, of coarse, but was she to do now, how was she to survive? Only two activities kept her occupied- the upbringing of her daughter and her prayers
She would sometimes get together with the other Muslim ladies in Abyssinia to talk of the latest developments.

Ruqayyah (ra), the daughter of the Prophet (saw), Asma bint Omais (ra), and Laila bint Hashmah (ra), were the great ladies with whom she would spend her free time, however these ladies also soon returned home. Years passed and Al-Madinah was attacked and battles continued to be fought .The treaty of Hudaibiyah was signed, and the Quraish thought that this unequal treaty restrained the growing power and influence of Islam

MB06- Juvriah Bint Harith (RA)

Juvriah-01/01

Juvriah bint Harith ( RA )

The Prophet (saw), said:
“Allah (swt), has commanded me to marry with the women of Paradise only.”
“I did not see any lady except Juvriah (ra), who became a source of blessing for her tribesmen because hundreds of her tribesmen were liberated from the slavery by her action”.

Juvriah bint Harith (ra), born in a Jewish chieftain’s home

Islam had begun to spread rapidly and a major portion of the Arabian Peninsula was under the influence of Islam by the year 5th after Hijrah.

Al-Madinah had by now become the center of a stable and rapidly expanding Islamic state.
The Islamic forces were on a triumphal march, inspired by spiritual strength
The two tribes Banu Khuza’ah who were allies of the Prophet (saw), and
Banu Mustalaq, enemies of the Muslims, who planned to attack Madinah.

Juvriah bint Harith (ra), a beautiful and wealthy lady

The chieftain of this tribe was Harith bin Abi Dharar, an arrogant man who had a lot of wealth and power. He had a beautiful daughter, Juvriah (ra), who had been born just before the advent of Islam. She was brought up in the lap of luxury, and had all the refinements and graces of a princess .Intelligent and wise, she mastered language and literary style. This was an accomplishment much prized by contemporary Arabs
She was happily married to one of the rising youths of the tribe of Banu Khusa’ah, Musafa bin Safwan.

The Prophet (saw) marches to fight a battle with the Banu Mustalaq

The Muslim forces were alerted when they confirmed news, of the Banu Mustalaq preparing for war with them .An army of seven hundred Muslim forces was ready to leave, under the General, the Prophet (saw), himself ,Aishah (ra), accompanied him on this march
The Muslim forces reached Al-Marisa, a strategic point for the tribe of Banu Mustalaq and a source of water for them .The Prophet (saw), sent a message to the Banu Mustalaq to accept Islam, but they began the war instead .The Prophet (saw), ordered his troops to launch a united attack on the enemy and soon they were defeated

Juveriah bint Harith (ra), is freed and marriage to the Prophet (saw)

Her husband Musafa bin Safwan was among those who were killed in this war
Juveriah (ra), was given as a captive from the spoils of war to the famous companion Thabit bin Qais Ansari (ra), he (ra), was stunned by her beauty and kept a ransom of gold in exchange for her freedom.

Juveriah (ra), was not only beautiful, graceful, elegant and eloquent but also one who was brought up in one of the foremost families of the time.
At the first opportunity she went to the Prophet (saw), and pleaded her case with him.
The Prophet (saw), was moved by her sorrowful plea and asked her if she would like to live as a free woman and a part of his household i.e. if he paid her ransom .She (ra), was moved deeply by this unexpected elevation in her status, and was more than happy to accept his (ra), offer
She was freed, and after accepting Islam she married Prophet Muhammad (saw).

Juveriah (ra), liberates her tribe from slavery.

When the Muhaideen heard of her conversation and marriage to the Prophet (saw), they too freed all the slaves of the tribe of Banu Mustalaq
Juveriah (ra), did not only become free, but she also became a Mother of the Believers
Some time later, her father and all the men who had been freed on the occasion of her marriage went to the Prophet (saw) and accepted Islam as their religion
Juveriah (ra), was thus blessed with a twofold honor-first of freeing her countrymen from slavery and then of bringing them into the fold of Islam

Imam Baihaqi quotes Juveriah’s dream

Imam Baihaqi has quoted Juveriah (ra), as saying that, three days before the Prophet (saw), arrived she saw the moon coming towards her from the direction of
Al-Madinah and falling into her lap
She did not like to talk about it to anyone, but when they were conquered and
she was made a prisoner she hoped that her dream would be realized
When the Prophet (saw), freed her and subsequently married her, he (ra), also changed her name from Barah to Juveriah, then she was a girl of twenty (Imam Thahabi)
Aishah (ra), swa Juveriah (ra), and said that she was as beautiful as a fairy

The Prophet (saw), teaches Juveriah (ra), some beautiful sentences

Juveriah (ra), said, the Prophet (saw) told her that after leaving her in the morning he recited the above four sentences three times each and these earned him more reward from Allah than her whole morning’s prayers

The dua’a the Prophet (saw) thought Juveriah (ra)

‘How perfect Allaah is and I praise Him by the number of His creation and His pleasure, and by the weight of His throne, and the ink of His words.’ (three times)

Juveriah (ra), passes away at age sixty-five in Al-Madinah

33:32 O wives of the Prophet! You are not like any of the [other] women, provided that you remain [truly] conscious of God. Hence, be not over-soft in your speech, lest any whose heart is diseased should be moved to desire [you]: but, withal, speak in a kindly way.

Hafsah-04/04

Aishah (ra), and Hafsah (ra ), Plot against the Prophet (saw)!!!

Among the mothers of the Believers, Aishah, Hafsah, Umm Habibah and
Saudah (ra), belong to the tribe of Quraish
When the Prophet (saw), was delayed a little with Zainab (ra), because she offered him some honey, Aishah and Hafsah (ra), could not bear him coming late.
So both Aishah (ra), and Hafsah (ra ), decided with Saudah (ra), to criticize his breath breath of honey.
He (saw), then decided to give it up for good hence Allah (swt), rebuked him (saw), in Surah At-Tahreem 66:1
Surah At-Tahreem

“O Prophet! Why do you forbid that which Allah (swt ) has allowed to you, seeking to please your wives? And Allah (swt) is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (66:1)

Hafsah (ra), confides in Aishah (ra), and Allah (swt), exposed her.

It was around the same time that the Prophet (saw), confided a secret matter to Hafsah (ra) and warned her not to speak to anyone about it
Hafsah (ra), told Aisha (ra), about it and Allah (swt), exposed her and revealed it in Surah At-Tahreem (66:3)

“And when the Prophet (saw) disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his wife, then she told it. And Allah (swt) made it known to him; he informed part thereof and left a part. Then when he told her thereof, she said, “Who told you this?” He said: “The All-Knower, The All Aware has told me” (66:3)

The Prophet (saw),boycotted his wives for 29 Days!!!

It was at this time, the Prophet (saw), boycotted his wives
By the 9th year after Hijra, most of the Peninsula was under Islamic rule
The granaries at Al Madina were full and all the riches were reaching the center from different regions .

Most of the Mothers of the believers had been brought up in the lap of luxury
When they saw this reign of prosperity, they too put forward demands for an increase in their household allowances.

When Umar Farooq (ra ), heard of this, he was very upset and told his daughter to ask him and not to make demands from the Prophet (saw).

He also advised the Mother of the Believers not to make demands
It was at this time that the Prophet (saw) boycotted his wives and went into seclusion and moved into an upper room adjacent to Aishah’s (ra), apartment.
Hafsah (ra), promised her father that she would never ask for a raise in her allowance and remained to her word to the end of her life.

Hafsah (ra), passed away in the state of Saum (fasting)

“O the one in complete rest and satisfaction! Come back to your Lord-well pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing (unto Him)! Enter you them among my (honored) servants, and enter you My Paradise” (89:27-30)

MB04-Hafsah bint Umar ibn Al-Khattab (RA)

Hafsah-03/04

Umar Farooq (ra), seeks a groom for his grief-stricken daughter.

Hafsah’s (ra), father Umar (ra), was very pained to see his daughter in this state
Hafsah’s (ra), silent courage and her patient prayer and her study of the Qur’an radiated her face with a spiritual beauty and innocence,
Not to mention a sadness and harsh loneliness that had become a part of her life.
After deep thought, Umar( ra), decided to approach Uthman bin Affan (ra), with the proposal, however Uthman bin Affan (ra), declined.

Then he went to Abu Bakr As-Siddique (ra), and offered him his daughter in marriage, he too lowered his gaze and did not answer him .

Umar Farooq (ra), then he went to the Prophet (saw) with his grievance and the Prophet (saw) smiling answered,

“Do not worry or grieve Umar, for Allah (swt), will find a man better than Uthman for Hafsah and Uthman in turn will find for himself a better woman than Hafsah (ra).
Hafsah (ra), marries the Prophet (saw)

A few days later, the Prophet (saw) married his daughter Umm Kulthom (ra), to Uthman
And one day the Prophet (saw) proposed marriage to Hafsah (ra), making Umar (ra), honored and blessed to join the family of the Prophet (saw).
Hafsah ra), was married to the Prophet (saw) in the 3rd year after Hijrah before the battle of Uhud, she was then 22 yrs old.

Umar Farooq’s (ra), Advice to His Daughter

The Prophet’s (saw) prediction was proved right.
Both Abu Bakr and Uthman told Umar (ra), they declined his proposal because the Prophet (saw), had shown interest in his daughter for marriage.

Umar (ra), advised his daughter never to compete with Aishah (ra) who was the Prophet’s (saw) favorite wife and better than her in many respects.
He (saw) also said, she should respect her sincerely and live happily as a member of the first and foremost family.

Hafsah (ra), a seeker of Knowledge and a Woman of great Aptitude.

After attaining the position of the Mother of the Believers, Hafsah (ra), became even more absorbed in studying the finer points of religion
She memorized the different ayat as and when they were revealed
She (ra), would store in her mind conversations of Muhammad (saw) which would lead to a better understanding of Islam
Often she would discuss with the Prophet (saw), issues about the Shari’ah.

Hafsah’s (ra ), confidence leads her to trouble

Umm Mubashir (ra), relates, that she and Hafsah (ra), and the Prophet (saw) were sitting and chatting together
He said, “All the people who had given the pledge of Allegiance at Hudaybiyyah under the tree would go to Paradise.
Hafsah (ra), asked, “how is that possible”
The Prophet (saw), got annoyed, but Hafsah (ra), did not give up and quoted an ayah from Surah Maryam (19:71)

“And every one of you will come within sight of it: this is, with your Sustainer, a decree that must be fulfilled”.
Ctd….
In reply, (saw), he quoted the very next ayah from the same Surah Al Maryam 19:72

“Then we shall save those who used to fear Allah (swt ), and were dutiful to Him. And, we shall leave the wrongdoers therein, (hellfire) to their knees”

Umar Farooq (ra), confronts his Daughter

This news of Hafsah (ra) disputing with the Prophet (saw) spread in Al Madinah
When Umar Farooq heards about it, he reprimanded his daughter who replied “Aishah (ra) also spoke in the same manner the Prophet (saw).

Her father again, cautioned her not to compete with Aishah (ra) and to maintain a certain decorum or else she would get into trouble.

MB04-Hafsah bint Umar ibn Al-Khattab (RA)

Hafsah-02/04

Hafsah’s (ra), Marriage to Khanees bin Hazafah Sehmi

Hafsah (ra) was married to Khanees bin Hazafah Sehmi
He was influenced by the teaching to Abu Bakr Siddique, (ra), and had accepted Islam.
When the leaders of Quraish heard about his conversation, they were enraged and he was subjected to the worst cruelty and oppression possible.

Hafsah (ra) Khanees (ra), bear a distinction of migrating twice

Due to the cruelty and oppression of the Quraish Khanees (ra), and Hafsah (ra), migrated to Abyssinia with the rest of the persecuted Muslims.
This was around the time when the Prophet (saw), had not yet started educating the new converts.

They both however got homesick and returned back to Mecca where once again faced sufferings inflicted upon the Muslims.

After some time the call was given by the Prophet (saw) to migrate to Al-Madinah
Khanees (ra), answered the call, thus becoming one of the few faithful followers who went through rigors of migrating twice in the obedience to the Prophet’s (saw), call.
This time around he was with his wife
Hafsah (ra), On reaching Al-Madinah the Prophet (saw), strengthened the bonds of brotherhood between the migrants (Muhajireen) and the Ansar (Madinites)

Khanees (ra), a Student of Prophet (saw), and a good Warrior

Both Khanees and Hafsah (ra), loved the new life in Al- Madinah
Hafsah (ra), made a special arrangements to memorize the ayat of the Qur’an as and when they were revealed giving deep thought and attention to their meaning and interpretation.
Her husband meanwhile was preparing himself for Jihad, improving his martial skills and learning the movements of the enemy as an accomplished horse-rider ready to meet them head-on.

Khanees bin Hafasah (ra), fights a heroic battle in Badr

Khanees bin Hazafah, Umar Farooq, and the maternal and paternal uncles of Hafsah (ra), and her cousin were all a part of this courageous band.
Her husband was determined to win the battle for Allah (swt) and destroy Abu Jahl forces.
Finally the forces met and Khanees bin Hazafah went tearing through the ranks of the enemy.
He was seriously wounded but most of the leaders of the disbelievers were killed, and Islam triumph.

It is one of the greatest battles fought in history where a handful of unarmed and out-numbered men routed a powerful and well equipped army.

The Prophet (saw), stayed at Badr for three days, while the injured were attended to; then he (saw), lead the victorious and jubilant forces back to Al-Madina.

Hafsah’s (ra), love for Khanees bin Hazafah

When Hafsah (ra), heard of her husband’s heroic deeds, she (ra), was very happy and praised his valor in battle, realizing he was injured and needed her care.
She immediately read the ayah of Surah ,Al-Anfal which were revealed with connection to the battle of Badr .

These words of Allah (swt), promising victory inspired Hafsah (ra), and she nursed her husband back to health, however his wound was still sore and he succumbed to them.
Surah Al-Anfal 8:10

“Allah (swt) has made it only as glad tidings, as that your hearts be at rest therewith. And there is no victory except from Allah (swt). Verily, Allah(swt) is All-Mighty, All-Wise”

Khanees bin Hazafah (ra), passes away

A few days later Khanees (ra), succumbed to his injuries and joined the ranks of those who are blessed with eternal life.
The Prophet (saw), arranged for him to be buried in “Jannatul Baqi” next to the uncle of Hafsah (ra),

He (saw), personally led the funeral prayer
Hafsah (ra), was naturally grief-stricken but being a true believer she (ra), respectfully submitted herself to prayer and meditation more than ever before.
At this time she was barely twenty one years old

MB04-Hafsah bint Umar ibn Al-Khattab (RA)

Hafsah-01/04

Hafsah bint Umar ibn Al-Khattab

One day the angel Jibril as, visited the Prophet saws, and narrated about Hafsah (ra), “She is often fasting and worshipping lady and she will be your wife in paradise too”
Mustadrak Hakim 4/15

Hafsah’s (ra), rich lineage

Hafsah (ra), the daughter of Umar Farooq (ra), and the niece of another famous sahabi (companion), Uthman bin Maz’oon who was fortunate to have the Prophet (saw) lead the funeral prayer and bury him himself (saw) in Jannatul Baqi. The first sahabi to be buried there
Her uncle from the paternal side, a martyr and a General of the Muslim army, he was Zaid bin Khatab (ra). He attained martyrdom after accepting Islam early even before Umar Farooq (ra),
Abdullah bin Umar (ra), who was declared by the Prophet (saw) to be an excellent man, was Hafsah’s (ra), brother

Hafsah (ra), a pious lady an offspring of Mujahideen

Hafsah (ra) was an extremely religious lady who used to spend her time in prayer and fasting
An excellent writer and orator, an ardent follower of Islam
Seven of her family members were from amongst the warriors of Badr: Her father, Umar bin Khatab

Her Paternal Uncle, Zaid bin Khatab
Her Husband, Khanes bin Hathafah
Three of her mother’s brothers: Uthman bin Maz’oon, Qudamah bin Maz’oon, and
Sa’id bin Abdullah bin Maz’oon
All of them had taken part in the battle of Badr and fought courageously having attained a place in Paradise.

Hafsah’s (ra), noble qualities

Five years before the Prophet (saw) was chosen to be messenger of Allah (saw), the renovation of the Ka’bah took place, then the Prophet (saw) was 35 years old.
When it came to the point to placing the Blackstone of the Ka’bah he (saw), was given the honor
He, (saw), stunned the people by asking for a large sheet; placing the Blackstone in the center of the sheet and asking each of the chiefs to hold the edges of the sheet and raise it. He, (saw), himself then picked it up and placed it in the nitch of the wall.
Thus, a thorny issue was very simply yet brilliantly resolved. It was during this time that Hafsah, (ra), was born in the family of a great warrior and wrestler, Umar bin Khatab (ra)
The birth of Hafsah, (ra)

Hafsah (ra), was thus born in the family of Umar Ibn Khatab
In her growing years, Hafsah (ra), was brought up in a completely Islamic environment, both her parents and her aunt and uncles having already converted to new religion
When she was old enough her parents married her.

MB03- AISHAH BINT ABU-BAKR R.A.

Aishah-06/06

Aishah (ra), title of

“The Horizon of the Ladies of Islam”

Imam Thahabi wrote that;
Aishah (ra), was superior to all other women in her knowledge and wisdom
She was a theologian of the highest order, and she deserved to be, after all;
She was born and nurtured under the tutelage of a father like Abu Bakr Siddique ra,
Lived as wife of the Prophet saws from a very tender age
She imbibed divinely inspired knowledge and wisdom from the very fountainhead of Prophethood.

She (ra), was an eyewitness to the problems and questions that the divine revelations answered.
Her apartment was the center where Ayat were revealed by the divine Mercy of Allah swt.
Thus she was given the title of “The Horizon of the Ladies of Islam”

Aishah (ra), as a mufti under the four caliphs

During the caliphate of the Khulfa-u-Rashideen, her fatwa (judicial decree or verdict) was accepted. Masrooq swore, Aishah (ra), had mastery over the Shariah laws regarding inheritance. Urwah bin Zurair (ra), her beloved nephew, was an envy of the companions because he had free access to approach her at any time as a Mahram.
The Prophet (saw) loved her deeply and respected her because of her command over religious matters and other praiseworthy qualities

This is what Allah swt says about the ones who have knowledge Al-Imran:18

Allah bears witness that La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He) and the Angels, and those having knowledge (also give this witness); (He is always) maintaining His creation in Justice. La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. (Aali Imran 3:18)

Aishah’s (ra), pride at the Prophet (saw) passing away in her lap.

Aishah (ra), narrated that she was proud that when it was her turn, in her apartment, in her lap, the Prophet (saw), passed away.

Her brother Abdur-rahman came during his (saw) last moments with a miswak in his hand, and Aishah understood the Prophet’s saws, desire for it.
She softened it with her saliva and teeth and offered it to him (saw)
He (saw), cleaned his teeth; and dipping his hand frequently into a bowl of water kept near him, he kept wiping his face again and again, repeating the words,

“There is none worthy of worship but Allah. Verily, death has pains.”
Then he pointed upward with his hand and said,
“Toward the best friend”.

Thus the soul soared up from the prison of the body.

Imam Thahbi’s quote

Imam Thahbi quoted a saying of the Prophet (saw),
The Prophet( saw) said;
“A Prophet’s soul leaves its body in the place that he likes the best”.
Thus it is proven he died in his favorite place, the apartment of Aishah bint Abu Bakr

The prophecy of Aishah’s (ra), dream was fulfilled

Previously Aishah (ra), had a dream that three moons descended into her apartment
When the Prophet saws, passed away he was buried in her apartment.
Then her father told her that part of her dream come true that day-the first moon radiated her apartment. Later, her father was buried next to the Prophet (saw)s and still later Umar Farooq (ra) Thus, the prophecy of her dream was fulfilled.

Aishah (ra), passes away

Aishah (ra), left this earthly existence for Paradise in the year 58 Hijrah on the 17th of Ramadhan at the age of 66,
“To Allah we belong and to Allah we return”

Aishah (ra), rests in “Jannatul Baqi”

Aishah (ra), was buried in the graveyard at Al-Madinah, Jannatul Baqi
Abu Hurairah (ra), led the funeral prayers
And Abdulla bin Muhammad bin Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr Siddique and
Abdullah bin Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr Siddique (ra,) placed her (ra), gently into her grave.

Aishah ra, was amongst those promised Paradise.
89:27-30….

(it will be said to the pious): “O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! (Al-Fajr 89:27)

“Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! (Al-Fajr 89:28)
“Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, (Al-Fajr 89:29)

“And enter you My Paradise!”
(Al-Fajr 89:30)

Aishah-05/06

Ayat for Tayammum An-Nisa 4:43

O you who believe! Approach not As-Salat (the prayer) when you are in a drunken state until you know (the meaning) of what you utter, nor when you are in state of Janaba (i.e. in a state of sexual impurity and have not yet taken a bath) except when traveling on the road (without enough water, or just passing through a mosque), till you wash your whole body. And if you are ill, or on a journey, or one of you comes after answering the call of nature, or you have been in contact with women (by sexual relations) and you find no water, perform Tayammum with clean earth and rub therewith your faces and hands (Tayammum). Truly, Allah is Ever Oft-Pardoning, Oft-Forgiving. (An-Nisa 4:43)

The Prophet saws boycotts the Mothers of the Believers.

By the ninth year after Hijrah, Al-Madinah, had become a flourishing city
The wives of the Prophet saws requested an increase in their allowances
This desire of his wives for worldly comforts disturbed the Prophet saws
He declared that for one month he would separate himself from his wives and went into seclusion in the little room above Aishah,s apartment.
After 29 days he came down to Aishah’s ra, apartment and gave her the option to leave after consulting her parents.

He then recited these verses from Surah…33:28-29

O Prophet (Muhammad SAW)! Say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world, and its glitter, Then come! I will make a provision for you and set you free in a handsome manner (divorce). (Al-Ahzab 33:28)

But if you desire Allah and His Messenger, and the home of the Hereafter, then verily, Allah has prepared for Al-Muhsinat (good-doers) amongst you an enormous reward. (Al-Ahzab 33:29)

Prophet (saw), smiles at Aishah’s reply.

A beautiful smile appeared on the Prophet’s (saw), face when Aishah answered, “Is there any need to consult my parents?” Indeed I desire Allah and His Messenger and the abode of the next world and that she would prefer life with him to this world and all it has”.
And her response was followed by all of his other wives.

The two occasions when Aishah (ra), was honored to see Jibril (as),

On one occasion,
Aishah (ra), saw the Prophet saws with his hands on the mane of a horse talking to a rider.
On asking who he was, the Prophet (saw), told her “It was Jibril (as), in a vision of a human and he requested that his greetings be conveyed to her.
She prayed that Allah swt should give a good reward to the honored guest and to his noble host. i.e. (Jibril (as), and Prophet( saw)) .
The second time she witnessed Jibril (as).
Anas (ra), narrates how once the Prophet (saw), was praying in Aishah’s (ra), apartment, when she saw a stranger standing outside the door
She informed him and he finished his prayers and stepped out
Who should he see but the Angel Jibril (as)
When he was invited by the Prophet saws the Angel replied that they did not enter places where there were dogs or pictures.
The Prophet (saw) looked around, saw a puppy in a corner and chased it out, then the Jibril (as), entered. Aishah (ra), was a witness to this blessed incident

Aishah’s ra, lofty status due to her knowledge.

Aishah ra, is from among the seven noble ones to whom thousands of Ahadith are attributed.
Among these are:

Abu Hurairah Abdur-Rahman bin Sakhar Dosi (ra), (5374 Ahadith)
Abdullah bin Umar bin Khattab (ra),-(2630 Ahadith)
Aishah (ra),-(2210 Ahadith)
Abdullah bin Abbas (ra),-(1660 Ahadith)
Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari (ra),-(1540 Ahadith)
Sa’ad bin Malik abu Saeed Khudri (ra),-(1540 Ahadith)
Anas bin Malik (ra),-(2286 Ahadith)

The honoring of Aishah (ra)

After this incident the Prophet’s saws, respect for Aishah ra, increased even more.
Amr bin Aas once asked Muhammad saws, who he loved most in this world, and he replied, ‘he loved Aishah ra, more than anyone else,
Then he asked him about the men folk. And Prophet saws, answered he loved Abu Bakr Siddique ra, the most

Umar’s (ra), advice to his daughter Hafsah (ra).

Umar ibn Al-Khattab told his daughter on one occasion;
“Do not try to compete with Aishah (ra), as Muhammad (saw) respected her and valued her very highly, because among other things her mastery and knowledge of the decrees and articles of faith as well as her brilliant interpretation of Islamic law”.

Aishah (ra), pleased Prophet( saw) with her pleasant nature.

The prophet (saw) loved to listen to Aishah (ra), talking and always smiled when she spoke
He always tried to please her.

On one Eid day the Prophet saws let her stand behind him to watch some Africans displaying their skills, so she could enjoy herself and not be seen at the same time, and he did not move until she tired of it.

Often just to entertain themselves they would narrate stories to each other, the Prophet( saw) narrated to her one such story was about a man called Kharafah whom the jinn had taken away.
Aishah (ra), narrated a detailed story about eleven ladies who were friends each describing her husband. The Prophet (saw), listened intently as she spoke. At the end he told her he was good as Abu Zara’ was to his wife Umm Zara.

Surah An-Nisa: 57

But those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah-Islamic Monotheism) and do deeds of righteousness, We shall admit them to Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), abiding therein forever. Therein they shall have Azwajun Mutahharatun [purified mates or wives (having no menses, stools, urine, etc.)] and we shall admit them to shades wide and ever deepening (Paradise). (An-Nisa 4:57)

Allah’s swt, great favor to the believers because of Aishah (ra).

Aishah (ra), her father (ra), and many companions (ra), were traveling with the Prophet( saw), they camped to rest and Aishah’s (ra), necklace fell off. The search for it delayed them and they were left without water for the morning prayer.
Her father and companions held Aishah (ra), responsible for this situation leading to missing fajr prayer.Exactly at this moment the following Ayat for Tayammum were revealed to the Prophet (saw)

Wakiah Al Ufuk/ The episode of Slander

24:11-21
Verily! Those who brought forth the slander (against ‘Aishah the wife of the Prophet saw) are a group among you. Consider it not a bad thing for you. Nay, it is good for you. Unto every man among them will be paid that which he had earned of the sin, and as far for him among them who had the greater share therein, his will be a great torment.(An-Nur 24:11)

Why then, did not the believers, men and women, when you heard it (the slander) think good of their own people and say: “This (charge) is an obvious lie?” (An-Nur 24:12)

Why did they not produce four witnesses? Since they (the slanderers) have not produced witnesses! Then with Allah they are the liars. (An-Nur 24:13)

Had it not been for the Grace of Allah and His Mercy unto you in this world and in the Hereafter, a great torment would have touched you for that whereof you had spoken. (An-Nur 24:14)

When you were propagating it with your tongues, and uttering with your mouths that whereof you had no knowledge, you counted it a little thing, while with Allah it was very great. (An-Nur 24:15)

And why did you not, when you heard it, say? “It is not right for us to speak of this. Glory be to you (O Allah) this is a great lie.” (An-Nur 24:16)

Allah forbids you from it and warns you not to repeat the like of it forever, if you are believers. (An-Nur 24:17)

And Allah makes the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) plain to you, and Allah is All Knowing, All-Wise. (An-Nur 24:18)

Verily, those who like that (the crime of) illegal sexual intercourse should be propagated among those who believe, they will have a painful torment in this world and in the Hereafter. And Allah knows and you know not. (An-Nur 24:19)

And had it not been for the Grace of Allah and His Mercy on you, (Allah would have hastened the punishment upon you). And that Allah is full of kindness, Most Merciful. (An-Nur 24:20)

O you who believe! Follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan). And whosoever follow the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan), then, verily he commands Al-Fahsha’ [i.e. to commit indecency (illegal sexual intercourse, etc)], and Al-Munkar [disbelief and polytheism (i.e. to do evil and wicked deeds; to speak or to do what is forbidden in Islam, etc)]. And had it not been for the Grace of Allah and His Mercy on you, not one of you would ever have been pure from sins. But Allah purifies (guides to Islam) whom He wills, and Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (An-Nur 24:21)

Aishah-02/06

Aishah ra, marries Prophet (saw) and enters his home.

Aishah (ra), was barely 9 yrs of age when she joined the household of the Prophet (saw), but was married before Saudah bint Zam’ah (ra), however she was too young then to join his household, or take care of Khadija’s (ra), children.
This was the time when both Khadija (ra), and his uncle Abu Talib had passed away leaving him lonely and isolated.

When Aishah (ra), joined his household in Al-Madinah she was welcomed in a small room around the Prophet’s (saw) Masjid.

Aishah’s (ra), little room was filled with treasures.

Her (ra), little room was about six feet wide
Had earthen walls and the roof was of leaves and twigs, to prevent the rain water from seeping in the roof was covered with a blanket .

The roof was so low that a person standing upright could touch the roof
There was a single shuttered door, which was never closed: a blanket served as a curtain
Close to the room, on a slightly higher level was a another small room, which Muhammad (saw) stayed in when he had boycotted the Mothers of believers.
A mat, a thin mattress, a pillow filled with the bark of trees, a leather water bag, a small plate for dates and a glass for drinking water were all the things in the room.
There were none of the signs of worldly wealth and pomp, but his little room was filled with spiritual treasures.

Aishah (ra), maintained her generosity even up till her last days.

Aishah ra, maintained the Prophet’s (saw) generosity even till her last days
No beggar left her door empty-handed .
Abdulla bin Zubair ra, mentioned that Aishah (ra), would collect a sizeable amount gradually and then give it away in charity.
On one occasion, at one sitting Aishah (ra), gave away 70,000 Dirhams in charity
One evening she received 1,000,000 from Amir Mu’awiyah ra, from Syria and by nightfall the entire sum had gone to charity

What does Allah swt promise the charitable?

{2:110}
And keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and whatever good you send before for yourselves, you shall find it with Allah; surely Allah sees what you do.

By no means shall you attain Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, etc., it means here Allah’s Reward, i.e. Paradise), unless you spend (in Allah’s Cause) of that which you love; and whatever of good you spend, Allah knows it well. (Ali-Imran 3:92)

Aisha’s (ra), generosity

One day she was fasting and gave a beggar her iftar/future, telling her maid Allah swt will take care of the evening. By evening someone sent her cooked meat, she said to the maid, “Allah swt had provided her with something even better.

She owned a house which she sold to Mu’awiyah (ra,) and gave away all the money in charity.
When her beloved nephew Abdullah bin Zubair (ra), asked her to restrain her generosity, she swore not to talk to him, and then after calming down she spoke to him and freed slaves as kaffarah for breaking her oath.
Aishah (ra), was tender hearted and wept easily. Eg: beggar woman

Angel Jibril (ra),had presented her portrait wrapped in green silk to Muhammad (saw) told him that this was the picture of the lady chosen by Allah (swt),to be his bride in this world and the next.

She was the only virgin to have become the wife of the Prophet(saw )

When the Prophet saws, passed away, he was resting in her lap and was buried in her apartment.

Many times angels encircled her apartment with love and respect .

Very often divine revelation would come to Muhammad saws when they were lying together resting in peace and tranquility.

Ayat acquitting her of any wrongdoing had descended from the heavens from Allah swt, proving her innocence
