Be Careful of Innovation in the Deen.
Evidence:1
From ‘Aa’shah (ra) who said that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Whoever introduces into this affair of ours that wich is not from it then it is rejected. (ie, it is not accepted)---Bukhari 167/3 and Muslim 1343/4.
The Messenger (saw) did not say ‘according to the intention of the one who did it, ‘rather he ruled it to be rejected.
Evidence;2
From Jaabir bin ‘Abdullah (ra) who said when Allah’s Messenger (saw) used to give a sermon he would say, “..Verily the best speech is the Book of Allah and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad and the worst of the affairs are the newly invented matters (and every newly invented matter is an innovation) and every innovation is misguidance (and every misguidance is in the fire).”
Note that! The Messenger (saw) ruled every innovation, not some.
SO IF SOMEONE WERE TO OPPOSE THE MESSENGER
Then say to him: IS THAT, your saying is in opposition to “The saying of Allah (swt), and the Messenger (saw).”
Evidence:
“And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger (saw) after the right path has been shown clearly to him, and follows other the believers’ way, we shall keep him the path that he has chosen, and burn him in Hell-what an evil destination!”
The Following Lesson Can Be Taken From the Two Ahadith
- Prohibition of building upon the graves
- Prohibition of plastering graves
- Prohibition of sitting upon graves
- Prohibition of pictures of those things which have a soul
The Obligation to deface pictures/statues (shapes) of those things which have a ruh (soul).
The Obligation to destroy whatever is built upon the graves greater than a hand span.
