Saudah bint Zam’ah ra, The First Lady, after Khadija (ra)

· Saudah bint Zam’ah (ra), the first lady to enter the household of the Prophet (saw) after the passing away of Khadijah (ra).
Saudah bint Zam’ah (ra), a role model
Saudah bint Zam’ah ra, was a role model for generosity and her obedience to Prophet (saw).
Aishah (ra), was very impressed by her simple and selfless nature.
Saudah bint Zam’ah ra, had the distinction of emigrating twice, first to Abyssiniah and then to Al-Madinah.

Saudah bint Zam’ah’s (ra), family lineage and marriages

Saudah’s (ra), mother, Shammoos was from the tribe of Bannu Najjar, a branch of Quraish; her (ra,) father was also from the branch of Quraish, Banu Amer bin Loii.
She (ra), was married to her cousin, Sakran bin Amar, both she and her husband accepted Islam in its earliest days and both migrated to Abyssiniah, they had a son Abdur-Rahman
After Sakran passed away, Saudah bint Zam’ah married the Prophet (saw)

Sakran interprets Saudah’s ra, dreams.

One day Saudah ra, dreamt that Prophet saws entered her house caught hold of her by the nape of her neck.
When she told her husband about her dream, he interpreted it to mean that after his death she would marry Muhammad saws.
Some time later she had another dream; she saw the moon descending into her lap. She told Sakran about this dream as well; again he interpreted it for her.
He told her, his death was imminent and that she would marry the Prophet saws,.
He fell ill and passed away a few days later, leaving Saudah (ra), lonely and sad.

Khawlah bint Hakim (ra), helps her friend Saudah (ra)

Khawlah bint Hakim, the wife of Uthman bin Madh’aon, visited the Prophet (saw), and suggested to him marriage with Saudah (ra), and the Prophet (saw), agreed

Saudah bint Zam’ah (ra), marries the Prophet (saw).

Zam’ah father of Saudah ra, performed the marriage ceremony, and was happy that his widowed daughter had been chosen to be the companion and wife of the Prophet saws.
The Prophet saws, gave a Mahr of 400 dirhams to his wife Saudah (ra).
Saudah (ra), happily moved into the house of Khadija ra, where the Prophet saws lived with his daughters, Umm Khultoom and Fatima (ra).

Saudah bint Zam’ah (ra), entertains the Prophet (saw)with her exciting stories.

Saudah (ra), would often relate with interesting accounts of her experiences in Abyssiniah, and talk especially about his daughter Ruqayyah (ra), and her husband, Uthman bin Affan and the Prophet (ra) would listen with great interest.
